Arrest of Sinaloa Leader El Mayo
For today’s article, I will be writing about the Mexican drug war in Mexico and the Southern US.
Specifically, this article will be about the arrest of Sinaloa leader El Mayo.
Within the Sinaloa cartel, it is becoming apparent that Guzmán likely betrayed Zambada, tricking him into getting arrested.
El Mayo was one of the heavy hitters in the Sinaloa cartel, known for being the logistics and money guy under El Chapo, which means he knew where the bodies were valued and how to keep the money clean after selling cocaine to the cocaine-loving Americans.
The drug war will be a never-ending war as long as the American public still wants their cocaine, and it will be the Mexican people who will pay the price.
Since 2006, 360,000 homicides have happened in Mexico due to the drug war.
Also, the War on Drugs began in June 1971 when U.S. President. Richard Nixon declared drug abuse to be “public enemy number one” and increased federal funding for drug-control agencies and drug treatment efforts.
Now, let’s get back to the arrest of El Mayo, who was misled by one of El Chapo’s sons to enter the US, where he was immediately arrested.
We should expect lots of violence as different factions compete in this newly developed vacuum.
The winner of this free-for-all control of the drug trade in Mexico, according to the Political analysis, Peter Zihan, would be the Jalisco New Generation Cartel El Mencho.
