Computers Have Now Become the Mobility Scooter for The Brain

Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple, had a vision for computers that emphasized their role in enhancing human potential.

He once said, ‘What a computer is to me is the most remarkable tool that we have ever come up with. It’s the equivalent of a bicycle for our minds.’

This empowering analogy highlights computers’ ability to amplify our thinking and creativity.

But sadly, computers have not been bicycles for our minds that can help unlock our whole potential.

Instead, they have become a crutch for our minds, eroding our memories and ability to think and experience the richness of life. Our world has been confined to what we see on social media and our screens.

Easy access to information could contribute to lower memory performance, known as ‘Digital Amnesia’.

According to a Kaspersky Lab study, 91% of people said they use the internet as an online extension of their brain, but 44% admit that their smartphone serves as their memory.

Digital amnesia is the idea that people forget information because they rely on digital devices to store and remember it.
