For Europe after the 30 years War from 1618 to 1748 and the English after the English civil War or the War of three Kingdoms

Where moving away from fighting Wars over religion

In the 18th century the monarch was more of a figurehead and more and more power was instead held by Prime minister and Parliament

Then you got English common law, the move towards atheism and the 18th century Scottish enlightenment

I think that ultimately self-interest drove the colonies away from the United States a lot like Britain's defeat and failure to protect

Australia during in world War II push them away from Britain with the loss of Singapore and the surrender of 100,000 British and commonwealth soldiers

In the 1990s the Australian prime minister at the time blamed the British for their inability to fight in the Pacific

That just normal human self interests

I'm the 18th century people such as Edward Gibbon, William Pitt the elder, Edmund Burke saw the empire as a disastrous mistake on the Part of the British

If you asked the British person at the start of the 17th century they would have been horrified with the institution of slavery

But it changed due to profit incentives towards the end of that century

Don't get me wrong I like the USA but calling the English evil and tyrannical it not really true and USA and UK

Is very much the kettle calling the pot black

I would also add that the US and UK are also very different but also similar but that's true for Canada and Australia

But are rapidly diverging as time moves on Australia is becoming more Asian

I think their a strong chance that the UK Office of Prime minister may become elective if Parliament continues to lose the ability to compromise

Or that politics fails to be shown accurately and separately in parliamentary elections and local elections

The USA is having the same issues I think to a lesser degree
