From what I understand of America the average age of American officials are in their late 50s to mid 60s
Most people from their political viewers during their first ten years of working and politicians tend to play things safe
So it's very unlikely that they would ditch aircraft carriers for drone carriers or something totally new
Because taking those kinds of decisions carry a lot of risks and can lead to ridicule
I do believe there was a governor of California in the 1980s who want to expand ports in California
Because he saw the potential of trade with China he was ridiculed and lost the governorship
Because people didn't think China would be the future in the 1980s
That's a clear example of a leader planing for the future and getting punished for it
If a US president stated he is scrapping the carriers he would be ridiculed
To me aircraft carriers could be the battleships of the 20th century being out dated
