Geopolitics India’s Counter-Piracy Operation
For today’s article, I will discuss the geopolitical security and interests of India, a subcontinental power, and its naval capacity within its area of operation, which are of interest predominantly in the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea and have a peak capacity of no farther than Somalia.
In early January, the Indian Navy successfully conducted anti-pirate operations off the coast of Somalia, which helped to reaffirm India’s commitment to its geopolitical interests, which extend to the Indian oceans and those seaways I mentioned above.
In a deglobalised world order, India as a great power will not seriously be affected by the coming collapse of the Chinese economic system or the Americans pulling out from its international commitments and security arrangements, which have been protecting international trade since the end of World War II.
India and the Outside World
India only cares about Indian interests, which, like all other nations, is true to varying degrees, and the Indians never really bought into globalisation and the globalised world order that the United States created.
During the Cold War era, from 1945 to 1989, the Indian nation supported the Soviet Union over supporting the United States of America.
