Higher Education in the USA
There is a growing issue within the American educational system due to the nature of the job market, with an undersupply of white-collar workers and an oversupply of blue-collar workers and the job market not having enough people wishing to become blue-collar workers.
Due to this issue within the job market, an individual can do a six-month electrician qualification and earn more than someone who spends two or more years in college or other forms of higher education.
This issue starts with the Boomer generation, born between 1946 and 1964.
The Boomer generation is the largest generation there has ever been, and this fact has driven down the massive decrease in labour costs, which happened when they entered the workforce in the late 1960s.
This meant that people, to survive and live independently of their parents’ households, would need two earners to pay for their children and other living expenses.
This also contributed to the increase in divorce rates in the 1970s due to the need for individuals to move around to get jobs, as well as all financial issues, which significantly contributed to divorce.
This impacted higher education within the United States.
