How We Understand People with Mental Models

Welcome back to today’s article, in which I shall discuss the importance of mental models when it comes to understanding people and why these factors influence relationships and forms of communication.

This idea of mental models comes from my experience with user design.

This is where products and websites are designed so that the user or the customer can use the product or service effectively.

Effective user experience involves understanding the minds of the People who will use it and the difficulties and pain points they may face when navigating or using a website or product.

This can be related to communication and human relationships because self-aware people can put themselves in other people’s shoes and more accurately understand that different people are different.

This is where mental models became effective.

We can use our understanding of other people to develop a simulation within our own minds of what they will say and do during conversations.

It’s why people who understand other people deeply often know and interpret their wants and needs. It is through this understanding that we can develop fantastic relationships.

It can also lead to discontent within relationships because once we understand somebody, we understand their failings, hopes, loves, and hates, which kind of love can ultimately lead to discontent.

When we truly get to know somebody, it requires getting to know their very soul, and that often leads to reflections within our own characters because getting to know somebody is not a one-way street; it’s a two-way street.

Also, I’m going to add that when I say soul, I don’t mean it literally; I mean it poetically.
