I believe the Chinese don't have a solid view of the middle East they have been content to let the USA

Handel that power geg and China does not yet have the ability to project power to the Red sea and Persian gulf

Won't do for the next 20 years

And keep in mind India is a lot closer and they would not be happy with China operations near their spare of influence
