I would say that the economy was pretty static and consistent up until the 18th century and the start of the industrial Revolution in 1769

After that people's living standards and luxuries increased exponentially

I would say the big inequality in today's society in the West is people's with high and low IQ and peoples

With high IQ having gone to college or university then getting marred which could create a cultural divide and economic divide

Between people who live in cities and those who don't
