If you look at the Alliance British has with France in the mud 19th to mid 20th century they where multiple times where war could have broken out

And the French during world war 2 where supplying weapons to Israeli terrorists and the British granted Lebanon freedom from France without telling the free French

Both sides hated each other and still do to a lesser extend you cannot wipe away nearly 900 years of war

Empowering any nation state that doesn't share your values is a reposite of a disaster

The UK and USA got along because they agreed more than they disagreed or at worst

UK was financially battered from two world wars and psychologically thermometised to really do anything

China know has a strong possibility of dominating the far East the same way the United States dominates the North American continent

That not good for any body and it destroys the balance of power and they a big possibility that China could swallow up East and Russia due to its population size
