Is Latvia Prepared for War

Latvia is a tiny Baltic state which shares a land border with the Russian Federation and its puppet state, Belarus.

Latvia has a tiny population of 1.8 million.

It has no air force, has 24 tanks, and depends on the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) for its national defence.

Currently, Latvia has 600 American troops stationed in the country from the USA to show the Latvians that they are committed to the independence of a free Latvia nation, and the United States is committed to Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

Article 5 states that an attack on one member is an attack upon all members, and in response to any attack, all members of NATO must respond with military force to protect the nation that has been attacked as part of the alliance.

However, there are some loopholes if a NATO member attacks a foreign state, and the alliance members are not obliged to give military aid.

Also, if there is ethnic persecution happening within a member of NATO, the legal commitments regarding the situation, article 5, may not be implemented.

This could be an issue for Latvia, which has a sizeable Russian population of 25%, and the Russian Federation could create a false flag operation accusing Latvia of persecuting ethnic Russians.
