Israel Sending Aid to Ukraine
The relationship between the Russian Federation and the state of Israel has been one of you don’t interfere in my political sphere of influence.
I won’t interfere in yours with that relationship of noninterference between both powers is now breaking down.
This is due to the Ukraine war.
From the Russians’ point of view, their geopolitical security, the War in Ukraine is one for their survival, and this means when dealing with other states that have traditionally been neutral, the Russians are hostile towards them.
For the Russians, it is a zero-sum game where the winner takes all, and you are either with them or against them; there is no middle ground.
Since its founding in 1948, Israel has had a significant Jewish population who have their origins in the old Soviet Union/Russia, which initially amounted to 1 million people, but in today’s numbers, Russian-speaking Jewish People make up 15% of the Jewish population in Israel.
This breakdown of relations between Israel and Russia is also partly due to the Russian Federation supporting Hamas, which is a terrorist organisation which controls the Gaza Strip, and the Russians calling Israeli counter operations and invasion into Gaza territory illegal.
