Israeli Invasion and Bombardment of Lebanon
The state of Israel has been in a state of war since the October 7 attack on the state of Israel, which was committed by the internationally recognised terrorist organisation Hamas.
Since that date, Israel has faced repeated attacks from Gaza and its northern neighbour Lebanon in the form of a terrorist organisation, Hezbollah, based in Lebanon since October 2023, which has led to Hezbollah firing over 4000 rockets into Israel.
Attacks by Hezbollah have led to the displacement of over 68,000 people from northern Israel, and 75,200 people remain displaced from Israel’s Gaza periphery (Knesset).
At least 693 Palestinians in the West Bank have been killed since 7 October.
In response to the growing internal refugee crisis within Israel, the Israeli government retaliated against Hezbollah, but Hezbollah having bases within civilian populations like Hamas in Gaza is leading to a mass refugee crisis within Gaza and Yemen as well as mass civilian casualties.
Currently, according to the United Nations refugee agency, over 100,000 Lebanese people are fleeing Lebanon into the war-torn nation of Syria due to the fear of Israeli counter-attacks and that Israel has already deployed troops inside southern Lebanon.
