It Is OK to Be Proud of Your Country

Suppose you are somebody reading this who was born after 1980 and has lived their life predominantly in the West, especially the English-speaking world, such as the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

In that case, you have most likely been told that your country is evil.

You will also have been told if you are an American that the white man is an oppressor, coloniser, and Conqueror, I am going to say to you.

This is true for all the flourishing civilisations.

If you look at China’s development history over 5,000 years, it has been one of conquest, invasions, and catastrophes, which have made China what it is today.

History of China

Recently, in the 20th century, China successfully subjugated Tibet and Xinjiang.

The history of humanity is a history of colonisation and war, which has happened repeatedly throughout humanity’s history, and that is what makes a country’s history it’s conflict.

People reading this living in your home countries would have been forged by colonisation, conquest and interstate rivalries.

If you wish to hate your nation, then I would say it is irrational, but you have a right to your views.
