Republican and Democrat Coalitions
In the 2024 American presidential election, it’s highly unlikely that Donald Trump will have a chance of re-election due to the nature of the Republican coalition.
These are the groups within the Republican Party from different factions and political orientations that support the Republican Party.
The reasons for this are as follows: for the Republican Party, there are three main political groupings: big business, military voters, law and order voters, religious America, and conservative America, depending on your point of view.
Donald Trump successfully alienated the business community likely to join the Democrats, which has been the main travel direction of big business since the 1990s with the election of Bill Clinton in 1992.
Republicans have a much smaller voter base than the Democrats because they have fewer members in different political groupings within America that support the Republicans. The reason why Republicans can win elections is because their supporters show up to vote.
It also helps that the big business Republicans and conservative Americans don’t have historically much in common and are united in policy decision-making, at least before the rise of Donald Trump’s Republican Party in 2016.
