Russians Create a Great Northern Sea Route

As Antarctica continues to melt, some projections that by 2050, the Arctic may be free of ice will make it possible for a northern passage through northern Europe through Antarctica to trade with the Pacific without going around longer trading routes.

It would reduce transport time from northern Europe and western Europe to East Asia by up to a week, but this varies depending on the destination.

A great northern sea passage would also mean that Europeans would no longer have to ship through the Suez Canal, the Horn of Africa, and…
