South Africa Takes Israel to Court for Genocide

The state of Israel, which is the world’s only Jewish state, is facing court trials of accusations of genocide.

This is due to the recent war between Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas, which launched an attack from their territory of Gaza against Israel on 7 October 2023.

The nation that is bringing up charges against Israel is South Africa, which is accusing Israel of crimes against humanity, including genocide.

The International Court that could potentially prosecute the state of Israel is the International Court of Justice or ICJ, the principal legal body of the United Nations.

The organization aims to settle disputes between states. The International Court of Justice also gives out opinions concerning international law.

Gaza and Israel War

It should not be confused with the International Criminal Court.

The International Criminal Court focuses on the prosecution of individuals; in contrast, the International Court of Justice focuses on international states concerning pursuing prosecutions.

South Africa, with an application to the International Court of Justice, has leveled the following accusation against the state of Israel.
