The Biggest Scandal in Tech Nobody is Talking About
The biggest scandal in big tech, which is being massively underreported, is that the People in the big tech companies, not just Bill Gates and Steven Jobs of the world, limit screen use but that people throughout tech allow their children not to use smartphones.
This is because when they were developing smartphone technology, they knew how addictive the software and devices would be for young people.
It is a scandal that companies are not being held accountable due to capitalistic profit incentives that are getting children in the next generation of society addicted to screens and unable to function using everyday communication styles.
According to the National Health Institute, approximately 5% of these students reported signs of addiction.
As early as 2013, 70% of adolescents ages 14 to 18 used social media daily; by 2018, 45% spent time online almost all the time”. Furthermore, digital devices are used at younger and younger ages.
When I say normal, I mean the ability to communicate verbally and understand different tones of voice and body language.
For example, I hate you can be told hatefully or lovingly because words have multiple meanings depending on the context.
