The Demographic Crisis in China Leading to the Rise of Anti-LGBTQ
In today’s article, I will discuss the growing demographic crisis within China and why three factors cause China’s low birth rate and declining population.
The first is a transformation of China from an agricultural economy to a manufacturing economy, which has contributed to low birth rates.
China due to the opening up of the state to the global economy, particularly after the death of Chairman Mao in 1976.
China has been in the process of industrialisation, which has seen over 800 million Chinese taken out of extreme poverty, which is the most significant change in people’s living circumstances in human history.
The consequence of this change was that China experienced seven generations of growth within one generation and a lowering of population and fertility in one generation instead of being spread out in seven generations like the British, who started industrialising in 1769 AD.
Instead of being spread over seven generations, it has happened within one generation, and that one generation will receive the benefits of that change in the economy of over seven generations.
Only one generation will feel the benefits, and it only happens once.
