They are the world’s oldest ethnicity, only joined by the Persians and the Chinese regarding how long they’ve existed in terms of political and social continuity.
The terms political and social continuity relate to the political and social norms governing each nation.
For example, the current continuity of the United Kingdom dates back to the signing of the Magna Carter in 1215 A.D.
Comparison of the nation of Egypt in terms of its political continuity goes back to the 2013 coup d’état.
The events ended with the 2013 Egyptian coup d’état after mass protests across Egypt demanding the president’s immediate resignation.
The rallies partly responded to Tamarod, an ostensibly grassroots movement that launched a petition in April 2013, calling for Morsi and his government to step down.
Political continuity is important because it gives business people and the nation’s population security within the political and institutional systems and gives society a sense of legitimacy and permanence.
