For the USA it expanded from the Atlantic to Pacific with no foreign rivals on the continent

Also with new technologies such as the railways, phones, telegraphs and other technologies

Means the USA will have a more or less united culture and politics with that nation not having a civil war even with its size since 1860s

Europe states have been at each other throat's since 1494 with the start of the Italian Wars or since the end of the Western Roman Empire in 476 AD
