The UK Government Is Cutting 5 Million from National Defence

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Island (UK) government announced on November 21, 2024, that it will be retiring its old military equipment.

The New Labour Government, which has been in Power since July 2024, is coming under fire for cutting the UK military capabilities when the nation does not yet have replacement equipment.

It is important to highlight that the Conservative government, from 2010 to 2024, scrapped the UK’s only two aircraft carriers without having the replacements ready in case the UK needed them.

The equipment being scrapped is:

· Two amphibious assault ships, HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark.

· A Type 23 frigate, HMS Northumberland.

· Two tankers, RFA Wave Knight and RFA Wave Ruler.

· Watchkeeper WK450 Mk1 drones.

· Fourteen CH-47 Chinook helicopters, the oldest Chinook currently used by the UK.

· Seventeen Puma helicopters, which were first introduced over 50 years ago.
