Ukraine War: Prigozhin Is Dead

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner Group, has reportedly died in a plane crash. The question that comes to mind isn’t why this happened because Prigozhin’s hands were dirty, but who did it?

Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, is at the top of the list of suspects who want Prigozhin dead. Still, he is not the only one way on the list.

The primary reason Vladimir Putin would assassinate Prigozhin was due to the Wagner Group Rebellion in June 2023, where the Wagner Group paramilitary organisation marched unopposed in the direction of Moscow before Prigozhin got a deal from Putin.

Yevgeny Prigozhin advanced to within less than 200km of Moscow before returning with his 8,000 men. It was an enormous shock to the nation, leaving Russians of every stripe and the Kremlin reeling.

Between the Russian military-industrial complex, the Ukrainian government, Belarus, and even the Americans, plenty of motivated actors would have liked to see Prigozhin 6 feet under.

It’s still unclear whether or not Prigozhin is truly dead due to reports coming out of Russia being too unreliable. The information is untrustworthy; the same goes for information from the Ukraine War.

If true, Prigozhin’s death would leave a void in Putin’s inner circle that must be filled.
