It's very unlikely that Russia would directly attached NATO but they will be happy enough using indirect methods

Which they have already used against Finland

Also the issue is that like after world War 1 which officially ended in 1919 the German population that were outside of Germany were never reintegrated into Germany

Which is one of many reasons for world War 2 for Russia after losing the cold War and the claps of the Soviet Union and the Berlin wall in 1989 and 1991

It left Russian population and sizable Russian population in Europe

There wasn't a massive clean up in the aftermath of the cold War which look in hindsight should have been sorted
