We All Live by Shortcuts

When it comes to information about bodies of knowledge, the underpinning knowledge of the universe, and how we live our lives when extracting and understanding that knowledge and the grand narratives, we all take shortcuts.

If a person takes the shortcut by following religious texts and explanations on how to live a good life, gain access to heaven and the higher mysteries of why the universe was created.

It is slightly different for atheists because, similarly to religious people, they have faith, but in their faith rather than in the practice of various religions; they have faith in scientific and logical explanations for the universe.

Atheists furthermore get the social norms from broader society, which in a sense can also be similar to religious norms because it can be argued that secular nations in the Western world have gone through dechristianisation and still have a moral framework based on the Judeo-Christian traditions.

So, I’m trying to say that we all take shortcuts for various reasons, and the biggest reason is that our world and our universe are incredibly complicated.

We don’t have the time to spend hours conducting our research.

That’s why academics and journalists are good and bad; they are how the general public can get information.
