Western civilisation has declined before and it was with the destruction of antiquity and the Rome Empire

Wish destroyed or maybe accurately the slow death of that civilization which led to the rise of what we have today

Also it could just be the nature of Western civilization which believes it will be destroyed which is a mechanism which keeps it alive
