Why China Is a Racist Nation
Today’s article is going to be a little different from what I normally write. I shall put forward some information I have on China and racism, and I’m interested in what you, the reader, know is China a racist nation.
I’m interested in your perspective and points of view on your understanding of China and race relations.
During the promotion of the new Star Wars trilogy starring John Boyega, who was one of the leads of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), Lucasfilm and Disney’s promotion of his character Finn in the Chinese market perceived John Boyega as a lesser character.
The promotional poster for the Star Wars movie in China had his character size on the posters reduced by 80%. This also happened to another actor Chadwick Aaron Boseman in promoting the critically acclaimed Black Panther movie released in 2018.
In the promotions of the Black Panther movie, the lead character’s face was removed from the marketing so that the Chinese people could not see there was a black man as the lead character.
What I am asking is whether China is racist due to cultural reasons or political reasons, or the fact that China, in regards to its dominant culture, the group is the ethnic and native Han Chinese being 95% of the population of the nation and is not hard greater exposure to different cultures and peoples of different skin tones.
