In all our lives, we often make critical decisions when we are young.

This can concern education, relationships, or starting a family, and sometimes, we make disastrous or ill-advised choices that will reverberate throughout our lives.

When understanding our younger selves, we often forget we live in the present.

We can be highly critical about ourselves, seeing ourselves as quite foolish or with self-hatred.

The truth, I would argue, is that when we are younger, we try to do the best that we can, and that is something that we all do even in our respective present because what we are trying to do is the best we can do with what we’ve got.

We all could do better and even be able to do more.

The truth is we are all flawed and have weaknesses, so it’s important to forgive our younger selves.

They are just trying to do their best with the experience they have.

But let’s also not be mistaken that being forgiving of ourselves and others doesn’t mean forgetting.

It’s important to remember the person we all used to be as long as we look forward to a brighter future and learn from past mistakes.
