Today’s article will be more of an opinion piece where I will argue that social media should be banned for children under 16 for two reasons.

First, people use screens for too long, adversely affecting people’s memories.

It gives people the memory capacities of individuals in their mid-70s.

Social media and screen use should be banned because they damage young people’s social skills.

When people are young, especially when working in an environment that requires strong communication skills, understanding people’s body language helps people to become well-versed in conflict scenarios.

It teaches them how to de-escalate and have emotional resilience in that situation.

Having these skills gives people the skills to function in a relationship, whether sexual or platonic.

Also, in life, we all experience forms of conflict.

The key to success is to have the communication skills and ability to face these conflicts.

The final reason that social media and screens should be banned is that they should not be used as babysitters or cheap entertainment for children; they severely affect young people’s and especially children’s abilities to function.
