Donald Trump’s historically unprecedented win with his comeback to the white house on the 5th of November 2024 has damaged Ukraine’s prospects for victory. There was national defiance against the Russian Invader since Russia’s second invasion of Ukraine on the 24th of February 2022.

For Ukrainians, since the start of their second War against Russia, they have been dependent on the support of US supplies of arms and humanitarian Aid.

According to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, a German research organization, between the start of the war and the end of June 2024, the USA delivered or committed to sending weapons and equipment worth $55.5bn (£41.5bn).

Volodumyr Zelenskyy

According to the US State Department, approximately $66.9 billion in military assistance has been given to Ukraine since Russia’s first invasion of Ukraine in 2014.

The President of Ukraine has wished the President-Elect well with his victory at the ballot box in November 2024 after a gruelling election cycle for the American people.

During a phone call with the USA’s new leader, Donald Trump, Zelensky stated he had had a constructive exchange and believed the War might soon end.

It remains to be seen if Donald Trump will be the next Ronald Regan, who won the Cold War in 1989, or if Trump will go down as bad US Presidents like President James Madison, whose war against the British led to the burning of the White House or James Buchanan who saw The United Stated divided into two opposing camps during the American Civil War from 1861 to 1865.
